The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, which was known as the Olympic Training Center up until the beginning of 2017, is a great San Diego-area venue for a whole host of event types.
The Center opened in June 1995, and was the first Olympic training center to be master-planned from the ground up. This amazing San Diego venue sits on 155 acres, and features more than 20 state-of-the-art facilities, including:
- Six natural grass soccer fields
- Eight sand volleyball courts
- Three BMX tracks
- A 50-lane outdoor archery complex and an indoor hall
- Two hard surface tennis courts
- A 1500-meter cycling criterium course
- An eight-lane polyurethane running track, with an adjacent six-acre area for throwing events
- An artificial turf field hockey pitch
- A softball field, with batting cages and practice infield
- A 3,000-meter boat course
The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center is an ideal location to host your tournament, event finals, sports camp, boot camp, or clinic. They are set up to host events large and small, and are particularly well suited to host events catering to or including elite athletes. There are various other rooms and support facilities available throughout the San Diego event venue for meetings, conferences, or training events.
The Center also houses a boathouse and visitor center pavilion, both of which are great venues for private banquets, receptions, or corporate events. The boathouse sits next to the beautiful Lower Otay Reservoir.
One of the features that makes this particular San Diego event venue unique is the availability of on-site housing and dining accommodations. Housing facilities are set up in two-bedroom and two-bathroom suites, with a shared living space. They are currently able to accommodate 198 individuals, with about 100 more beds being added later this year. The dining hall features food crafted by talented chefs working with elite athlete nutritionists, served in a facility that overlooks the lake. Catering for private events is also available.
