Murchison Gymnasium - Santa Barbara, Ca

Murchison Gymnasium in Santa Barbara has seen some history as home to Westmont College basketball and volleyball since 1969. A versatile event venue, Murchison Gym was renovated in 2008 to modernize the building with a new floor, bleachers and sound system. The arena now has bleacher seating for 1,600 and a building capacity of 2,400 with floor seats. Murchison Gymnasium is part of the Westmont sports complex that also includes locker rooms, offices, fitness center, athletic training facilities and the Westmont Pool. This is a great venue for volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, eSports, martial arts (jiu jitsu) and functional fitness (CrossFit) competitions. The Santa Barbara locale is a great retreat and camp location that is highly desirable for event participants seeking a vacation destination.

Westmont College is a liberal arts college located on the former Dwight Murphy estate with its 125 acres and Mediterranean house.  Westmont College is home to some of the finest athletic facilities in the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) with a diverse sports complex that includes Westmont Track/ Thorrington Field, Murchison Gymnasium, Lynn Abbott Tennis Courts, Lovik Field, Westmont Pool and Russell Carr Field.

Known as The American Riviera, Santa Barbara is where “golden hillsides cascade into sparkling seas.  Red- tile roofs give way to abundantly sunny skies.” Santa Barbara is a highly desirable travel destination.  Athletic event participants are sure to highlight tournaments here as “must- dos” and are likely to turn the event into a family trip.  Aside from the absolute splendor of the locale, Santa Barbara is a “small town with big city amenities.” The Santa Barbara Airport makes access easy.  There is an abundance of lodging options and the town is super walkable.  This convenience makes the vibrant downtown with diverse nightlife and shopping options all the more enjoyable.
